Warranty Question

I recently purchased an alienware m11x from the states (I live in Canada) that had been used for two weeks.
The system arrived and is fine.
I was wondering if I am still covered under the first year warranty, since it is between countries.

If not, anyway has anyone had any experience with square trade?
