Hp dm4 HDMI problem

i have an hp dm4-1060us with a core i5-430m and intel hd graphics. The problem is that when the computer is on and i connect the hdmi cable that is hooked to an hdtv it shut's down immediately like if you unplugged it from the AC, then if you turn it back on with the hdmi cable connected it works normally. I've searched about that problem but i can't figure it out, a little help would be appreciated.. thanks
