Replace Canadian keyboard w/ American

My father-in-law bought a Toshiba C650 laptop recently here in Canada, and between the left 'shift' key and the 'z' key there is another key, which is used for adding accents to letters, etc, if you are French Canadian.
I find this key extremely annoying as it is what I'm usually hitting instead of 'shift'.

If I were to purchase an America keyboard and swap it out in order to get rid of this key, would it affect the laptop at all because there is a 'missing key' from what it was produced with?
