I've recently acquired a Dell Vostro 3500 for my wife. The CPU, RAM, HDD and video card are just fine. The screen however supports only 1366 x 768 pixels which kinda makes me and her unhappy.
I've discovered that there are on the market replacement screens, for instance from AU Optronics, a 15.6" display, that supports WXGA 1920 x 1080 pixels, Wide 16:9 (part number MMDDISPLAY428).
The video card (NVIDIA 310M) supports higher than 1366 x 768 px resolutions because I've connected the laptop to an external monitor at 1600 x 1200.
Now, is it possible to replace the original screen with one such as the above?
I think that physically it will fit, but the original screen is "HD LED antireflex"
Thank you,
Daniel

When replacing the screen you need to take a lot of things into consideration... Such as power consumption, heat, will it physically fit etc.
I wouldn't think it would work, as just because you can connect it to an external monitor does not mean it can handle a higher-res internal monitor. I might be wrong though.

It's not the video card can't support the resolutions, it is making sure you have the correct connectors. I don't see a guaranteed P/N that will work with the 3500 as officially only 1368x768 is available, but if I recall you might be able to use the Latitude E6510 screen as it is 15.6" and the same aspect ratio.
