Hvae a Netbook Very confused?

I have a netbook I was handed with a SSD(solid state drive) HP Mini Netbook and it seems to have wiped out searching for an operating system. Its Been dropped from a very small height(off a low couch) and now its searching for an operating system. How Do I put one back on when it doesn't have a disc drive of any sorts. This netbook previously had Win XP SP3 on it now nothing. Has it completely crashed and or is it worth money to get a new SSD?
