cf-29LTQGWBM swap touchscreen,issues
I picked up a cf-29LTQGWBM with touchscreen not working, so what else is new. I had a good touchscreen from a mk2 cf-29E that was working well on a parts unit. So, let's just swap 'em , right? Still, no worky. Put it on a cf-29H mk 3, it works fine, one of the SBC models. Put it on a cf-29EWPGZKM, it works fine. Went in and reloaded the recovery disc for a mk4 with touchscreen DFQX3894MA series. Re start touchscreen still not working. Go into device manager all looks well, checked driver and say is working properly. I know there is something obvious I'm missing here, any suggestions guys? Have replaced good touchscreens on defective cf-29's and they all worked and even put some on the cf-29 mk4-5 with 256mb onboard ram and got them to work out ok. Maybe there is something defective on the touchpad PCB here, any way I can know for sure? tune in for the next exciting episode of Let's Stump Driller, a comedy of errors.............Driller

Bought this TV on weekend. Was blown away by the clarity and colors.
But soon realized the problem while watching movies on standard signals (dont have HD receiver yet but ordered one !).. Can someone tell that why all the movies appeared like some TV serials and not the real movies ? Googled and Binged to fix this problem but could not find any credible solution
Is that because I am missing an HD receiver and getting one would fix this issue ? OR is there some specific setting which I need to configure. I tried various modes like Movie, Standard and others but they really didnt make any difference !

VGN-TZ31 - copying an image of the recovery partition to create a bootable Vista installation disc

My first post on the forum so please be gentle
I've just bought a second-hand TZ31, complete with Vista Business.
I'd like to format the hard drive and install a fresh copy of Windows 7 on account of it's lower demand on system resources, general superiority to Vista and the fact that the supplied version of Vista also contains lots of unneccessary and and resource-hogging applications.
I've heard of people having problems with retaining all of the Vaio's functions under W7 (webcam, Wifi, fingerprint reader etc) so would like to make a copy of the Vista recovery partition before deleting it, just in case.
I've been trying to do this using ; I've managed to create an image of the partition (a .001 and a pbf file, which together are about the same size as the partition (c. 7Gb) but when trying to create a recovery / installation disc (or .iso) the output file appears to be only about 64Mb, which surely is far too small..
Firsty, am I correct in thinking that the recovery partition on the hard drive contains all the installation files for the OS and can be copied to DVD to create an installation disc that can be used to install a fresh copy of the OS onto the machine?

UE40C6005 RWXXE common interface no signal after power on
I just bought a tv in Sweden, it's the model UE40C6005 RWXXE. And i have 2 problems with it (for the moment):
1. I did the firmware upgrade(T-VAL6DEUC-1016.0) and i bought the "boxer CA" mpeg4 module.
I install the module and i have to insert it in the tv 2 or 3 times before i get it recognized. After that, all the tv channels work correctly except that if i power off and then on again, i have to reinsert the module 2-3 times until it is recognized again by the tv. I don't know if the problems is because of the new firmware because i didn't have module before.
2.The PIP option is always greyed out/disabled when in tv mode but available when in hdmi, av mode.
It's really frustrating and i'd like to know if there is any solution to this problems.

hello , i have a HP dv5 1135 , i bought it almost almost 2 years ago .
now i am thinking about giving it to my sister and buy a dv6 3170 .
now to be honest , after i bought my laptop i did not search nor follow any laptops and video cards reviews and news , so i need some advices please.
first of all , the 9600m GT in my notebook was not so bad , yet i was kind of disappointed , i expected a little more out of it .
my problem was with windows vista , i did format my laptop and install xp based on a guide i saw in this forum . all in all , xp was better for me than vista but it was not really stable .
i would appreciate it if u guys can answer the following points
1-first of all what do u think about windows 7 , in general . i am an electrical engineer , i have to work with autocad most of the time but honestly i love games and want a windows that allow me to play without problems.
by the way this laptop comes with windows 7 premium 64 bits , is there any points where the 32 version might be better ? like if autocad don't work with 64 but works with 32.
and if u happen to know , is there any softwares that allow me to save my license in case i want to format? because a software like this one existed for vista and was good , i live in lebanon and cant imagine myself going through the online applications and phone services in order to certify my license.
i expect to format my computer and install a fresh windows 7 version to get rid of the bloatware and i need to keep my license of course . in the end i paid for this license , right?
2- the hd 5650 , what do u think about it ? my first target game is gta 4 . some people said that gta 4 is also about the processor , but this laptop have a quad core so that shouldn't be a problem.
does this video card have a future regarding any future games? really , i don't want to expect a nice video card , and then suddenly discover that it's not that good .
and another point , how about the drivers for this video card ? when i bought my laptop with the 9600m gt the performance was bad , only to discover later that it came with bad drivers and i had to download 130 mb of drivers at 8 kb/s in order to have a good performance . does HD 5650 always post new good drivers like nvidia does? and does anyone know if the original drivers for the hd 5650 are any good? i don't want to mess a lot with drivers because honestly i did mess with my 9600m gt and it never felt like the same before , i wont be using any softwares to overclock my video card so i just need a card that is good as it is and doesn't need any dangerous tricks.
3-the weight , this laptop have a 15.6 inch screen , and i want to game and have a portable laptop so i think it's fine for me . my current laptop have a 15.4 screen and i already think it's big enough. (that's one of the reasons i prefer this laptop)
4- is there any catch i should know about ? i paid 1350$ for my old laptop , and now this one , that seems (from it specifications) a great great laptop is only for 1165 .
5- i have noticed in the price list of the store i know that many laptops have this HD 5650 , yet some state that it's up to 2.8 GB and other say that it's up to 3.8 ...... is it the processor that makes the difference?
6- any idea about the battery ? in 20 months my HP battery was almost all dead , and now i need to plug all the time . really disappointing ....
driver for keyboard light settings?
I have all my keyboard lights working, but when I hit the far left button on the keyboard, it doesnt show the All lights on, Keyboard lights on, all lights off etc.. ever since I reinstalled windows, the lights themselves work, just not the indicators.

Hi, guys. I owned VPCZ126GA and i noticed that when was switching to Auto Mode, Flashing Display Lines appears during transition of graphics card. It is normal? What could be the reason?

XPS 1645 - Dieing, How Claim Warranty - What will happen?
G'day, my XPS 1645 with all the latest upgrades is basically dieing when Im playing computer games, I have it always with a cooling pad underneath and still it just burns up and throttles and the problem is I cant open it up and re-paste it without voiding the warranty, If I claimed the warranty

CPU temp monitoring software
I'm finding that on my E1505, i8kfangui and speedfan is extremely inaccurate when monitoring temps and RM cpu clock utility is more accurate. For example, i8k and speedfan says my cpu is at 49 Celsius at the moment, and rm cpu is telling me its at 64 Celsius. This is during idle. I think I trust rm cpu more than i8kfangui and speedfan because i8k/speedfan seems to also miscalculate other hardware temps as well. Anyone else notice this?
G73JW-A1 fan powering up under very low load

I have only had this laptop for a few days, and over the last two the left-side fan(CPU side?) is revving up to what I assume is full power somewhat randomly albeit consistently. The air coming out is barely even warm(except when gaming), and neither is anything else.
Clarification:
-When running programs(or even just one) it will start and stop every few minutes. The "sped-up" periods are longer than the slowed ones.
-When idle with no running programs it's a similar story.
-When I close everything, it will calm down after a short delay but pick up again either after a few minutes or when I start a program.
Note: The programs can be anything from Chrome to Steam to a taxing game.
I have the latest drivers (except the BIOS upgrade, I heard it screwed over a few things. Should I try downloading that, or is it completely unrelated?) and have reinstalled any that I thought may have helped, but this started happening before I downloaded the latest frivers, anyway. Another thing is that the keyboard area is much hotter after leaving the lid closed for a while than it is even while running games. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it...

Can't detect router/ping 192.168.1.1, but ethernet works...

Here is the problem: I have a Linksys BEFW1154v2. The Windows Vista PC I am currently on is connected to it via ethernet cable, but it does not detect the router nor allow me to ping 192.168.1.1 to go to the administration page. I have done the following:
-Turned off my Windows and McAfee firewalls
-Powered everything off and then turned off the modem, waited, turned on the router, then turned on the computer.
-Held down the reset switch on the router for 30+ seconds
Something that's odd is one time when I restarted the computer, I could connect to 192.168.1.1 and detect the router, BUT nothing else with the internet worked. For some reason unknown to me, after about 1 minute I was no longer able to detect the router but the internet started working. Hopefully this is useful to someone out there.
This is driving me insane, any help is much appreciated!
(P.S. Reason for the ancient router is I'm back at my parents for a few weeks for the holidays and this is all they have laying around. I need to get on my laptop and am struggling!)

Quality of Toshiba X505 series
I don't know much about the X505 series but can a few people give some opinion on the quality overall for these laptops? I'm deciding between the Q892 and the MSI 740 and i remember awhile ago my friend telling me toshiba are one of the worst laptop makers. Supposedly their HD dies out in a year? I'm not asking for performance opinions, just on the durability and the quality of Toshiba X505 series.
Christmas Present - w510, hard disk crashed during first bootup
Everybody,
Thought will share my experience with you all.
I received the w510 on Christmas eve(ordered on the 14th) well in time for Christmas.
I opened it, booted it, started creating the recovery disks and the hard disk crashed. Since then it hasn't booted.
I called the support line, but they don't have any records of my laptop yet.
The agent said that their systems might not have been updated, and have to call back on Monday / Tuesday.
Do reply if anybody has experienced anything similar.

I received the w510 on Christmas eve(ordered on the 14th) well in time for Christmas.
I opened it, booted it, started creating the recovery disks and the hard disk crashed. Since then it hasn't booted.
I called the support line, but they don't have any records of my laptop yet.
The agent said that their systems might not have been updated, and have to call back on Monday / Tuesday.
Do reply if anybody has experienced anything similar.

PC Share Manager - Folder Share Problem

I have a usb hard drive connected to my laptop that i back up files to, and was hoping to use it for media storage for my LED series 5 TV. I'm assuming PC share manager cannot share folders from this hard drive as when i try share a folder PC manager says "Can only share folder items"
I am able to share folders that are on the laptop though.
Is there something i can do to change this?
Your help will be appreciated.

I just realized something. I ordered the new V130, and in the review on notebook check it says it uses the Intel 5100 for a wireless card. But when I check my specs from what I ordered it says "Dell Wireless 1702 802.11n/BT3.0 Networking Combo Card" now is that a card that is any good, and what the heck does BT3.0 mean?

Hp dm4 HDMI problem
i have an hp dm4-1060us with a core i5-430m and intel hd graphics. The problem is that when the computer is on and i connect the hdmi cable that is hooked to an hdtv it shut's down immediately like if you unplugged it from the AC, then if you turn it back on with the hdmi cable connected it works normally. I've searched about that problem but i can't figure it out, a little help would be appreciated.. thanks

driver help CF-29
i just picked up CF-29l4lgxbm off of fleabay.it's seem to be in decent shape,but i cant get the drivers to update..specifically the chipset and hotkeys(fn key won't work!).what am i doing wrong here?i follwed the install instructions,and still no luck.i'm starting to think the recovery cd's i got from another guy of ebay is screwing up something.

Did the following:
1- Changed the raid to two 256MB C & D drive
2- Made recovery DVD
For backup, as per pyr0 advice (thanks again) I decided to go for eSATA
1- Got a OWC Slim ExpressCard to eSATA Adapter
2- 256GB Crucial RealSSD C300 (can you use it in my desktop as well)
3- OWC Mercury Elite-AL Pro mini external enclosure
4- Paragon Hard Disk Manager Pro 2010 for cloning
The cloning of about 68GB took 1:25 minutes with a read of 231 and write of 84
I clone it sector by sector although I couldnt find an option to disregard empty sectors in Paragon options.
While I was working on something else, the Paragon finished the cloning and booted up with the external hard drive still attached to the eSATA.
Window 7 Ultimate 64 bit made a system reserve on the external drive once the C drive was booted up.
When I detached the eSATA the Window 7 wouldnt boot up anymore. The only way it would boot up was with the external hard drive attach to it! I assume because of the system reserve
I tried to repair it but Window 7 stated that my Window 7 is NOT genuine MS software. Thats interesting because I had bought it from Sony USA.
I tried the Paragon recovery CD to clone the external drive back to the C drive. After, another 1.25 minutes it failed to boot up because of hardware change.
Interesting that I was trying to protect myself now I have to use DVD recovery.
I like the Paragon especially Alignment tool and Backup Capsule its like recovery partition.
However, for cloning it is way too slow and dangerous.
Any suggestion?
Now Im looking at Miray HDClone Pro. Anyone has used it here?
My other choice is Acronis True Image Home 2011 although I prefer not to go that way. I bought the ATI 2010 (doesnt work well with SSD) and a little more than a month 2011 came out!
Any other choice besides Ghost?

How To Use WIS09ABGN
Dumb Question: I just bought a Samsung UN40C5000QF LED tv, and shortly thereafter received a WIS09ABGN as a gift. Thinking "this is pretty cool", I plugged in the adapter, followed the setup on the tv to my wireless router, tested it, and everything checked out fine. Now what? How do I USE it? I don't see anything show up in the source modes that would indicate that I now have another source of input, so I have no understanding of how to access any features, get to the internet, or connect to any other PCs on my network. The only way I know my connection is good is when I unplug and reinsert the adapter. Then it says "Samsung Wireless LAN Adapter connected. Current Network type: Wired. Switch to wireless network?" I press "Yes", and then it successfully connects me to my network (it says "Connected"). HOWEVER, immediately after that, it shows "PC" as the source in the upper left hand corner, and in the center of the screen it says "Check signal cable". I get the feeling I'm doing something really dumb! Please help!!!

RF710 Bluetooth issue
I recently purchased the RF710-S02US and love it. The only problem I have had is with the internal bluetooth. I have searched everywhere without any luck. This is the second rf710 in 2 weeks with the same problem. The bluetooth works fine at the beginning. My mouse pairs fine and works great. About a week later it just stops. I tried removing the mouse from the bluetooth devices and then repairing. The laptop sees the mouse but the mouse does not leave pairing mode. I try pairing another device, same problem. I did a complete restore and still no luck, so it is not a software conflict but a problem with the actual bluetooth module.
Samsung does not seem to know of a problem. What are the chances that 2 laptops have the same problem?

AutoMotion plus question for HDTech
So previous to this I owned the Samsung 50 in plasma PN50A450, I mainly used it as my PC monitor although the only resolution was able to get was the 1360x768, So I recently built myself a super gaming computer and decided it was time to upgrade to a 1080p 120hz tv. So yesterday I went out and bought the Samsung LN55C610 . 120hz was a pretty big deal for me since I play a lot of game on my monitor and do a lot of movie watching through my pc. So When i got the TV home I immediately plugged my pc into the hdmi 1 input turned it on, my compute realized it was a 1080p screen and adjusted my resolution to 1920x1080, but there was a problem, The whole screen was stretched, I could barely see my start menu.... weird... SO after messing around in the menu I found the ONLY way for the 1920x1080 to show correct was to go to the Source list and Edit Hdmi 1's name to PC Which on the PN50A450 had no bearing on anything since it was just a name... So I was looking to enable to Auto Motion plus feature because as I said I play a lot of fast motion FPS games and i do watch a lot of movies on my PC no different then any Console, But after much digging and searching on the internet I found that apparently AMP is disabled for any input labeled PC , which is absolutely ridiculous and i cant make my resolution show correctly on the panel unless its name is pc so going to the other input names where AMP is enabled is useless, Samsung should give me the option to use AMP on my pc as it is no different then a gaming console. Is there anyway to get around this silly issue?

I've had random BSOD's occuring and I'm almost convinced it is NIC related but I am unsure how to fix it as I don't think there are newer drivers than what Dell and/or Microsoft provide for it.
It usually always happens when the network card is stressed (Running large SQL queries and surfing at the same time for instance).
The "file" in question that is listed in the BSOD is e1k62x64.sys
Any help on this please?
(PS: I have carried out the bsod reader instructions but there is some information in some of the files I cannot release on here which is why I have not attached it on here)

I went to the support web site looking for updated drivers for my Vostro 3400 and after entering the service tag I received the following message:

I'm not very computer literate so please forgive my ignorance. How do I get a video from, say,
www.freedocumentaries.com or other sites onto a flash drive on my Apple MacBook and then, using the " flash drive " port on the TV to play that video.
If you could give me simple step by step instructions I sure would appreciate it.

This is my 3rd encounter with Asus gaming laptop. I have owned Asus G50, G51VX and this is the 3rd one. Hopefully I can shed some light for readers.

VIDEO CARD: NVIDIA GTX 260M 1GB
SCREEN: 16 inches LED at 1366 X 768

G60 use the exact same chasis as G51. Both are same size, identical keyboard and ports which is very sturdy and no flex. Major change is the lid design which is dark blue/black and there is no more light strip on both side of the lid. The hinge is strong and tight, screen exhibited no flex or play while moving it back and forth. When I tried to press on the center of the lid, LED remained bright and no discoloration. This thing is built like a tank. There are touch sensitive buttons just below the screen that changes the LED scheme to vivic, cinema...etc the usual. Also has 1 touch button for battery saver, entertainment, extreme performance (overclock?)
One notable item is the top two corners of the LED screen which was not finished at a 90 degrees angle but a sloped design which some people might find annoying due to the few reduced pixel. I personally did not find it bothersome.
WINDOWS EXPERIENCE INDEX AND PERFORMANCE
With windows 7, the WEI has been extended to 7.9 as top performance. Under extreme performance
CPU: 5.7
MEMORY: 5.8
VIDEO/GAMING 6.7
VIDEO/AERO3D 6.7
HDD: 5.9
I have not noticed a huge performance increase over the G51 which was equipped with the same video card, same memory but a P7350 2.0 ghz cpu. However the overall windows boot up, gaming, touch and feeling experience felt much more smooth and fluid over G51. It's probably due to the combination of 0.13 ghz speed bump + windows 7 which is less of a resource hog.
I did not have access to an external monitor at time of testing and 3D mark vantage will not run because 16:9 screen did not meet the requirement of being able to achieve a 1280 x 1024 resolution. However 3D mark 06 was able to be performed at 1280 x 720 resolution and G60 achieved a score of 9020. Some of you may recall that G51's 3D mark 06 benchmark at 1280 x 720 achieved a score of 8880 found here
This laptop was shippd with Nvidia 186.40 driver and has 112 stream processor. For those not familiar with it , this laptop GTX 260M card is roughly equivalent to desktop version of Nvidia 9800GT card which also has 112 stream processor and DDR 3 memory. This card paired with 1366 x 768 resolution, can run any modern game at high resolution.
MEDIA and SOFTWARE:
G60 came with recovery media and drivers. However it kept prompting me to create recovery discs which should be a more convenient than installing them one by one. Which would prompt some question about bloatware. I immediately uninstalled trend micro trial and microsoft works and other bestbuy, napster software. Besides the usual drivers, half of the software was Asus proprietery such as smart log on, AI recovery, splended video, power 4 gear hybrid. One notable software is the control deck which staggers all the system setting in a series of software presented on your screen with simple name/explanation on what it does. All you have to do is point and click. Very nice and user friendly.
CONCLUSION:
This laptop runs cool, quiet and is built very sturdy. The color scheme offers a mature professional tone while offers a hint of gaming menance as if it can take on any gaming rig out there priced above it. Sure it's not the fastest rig out there and not a 2000 dollars alienware. But coming from someone who has had extensive collection of gaming laptops from earliest day of dell xps to all kind of gaming desktop, this G60 will hold it own without any problems. I bought this laptop mainly for gaming on the go for modern warfare 2. I have no doubt it will handle MW2 any whatever game coming its way in the coming year with absolutely no difficulty. What remains to be seen is its upgradeability which I do not have such information yet. I reckon it will take a brave forum member to try it out

Can you turn motion plus off when using Samsung apps?
I'm trying to watch a movie via the Cinema Now app on my UN55C7000 and it's unwatchable due to the motion plus feature being on. Is there a way to disable this? I have the latest firmware and neither the menu or tools button works within the apps menu.

Hi, after having tons of bad boots etc i decided to format my pc and get a clean install, so far very satisfied with it, gotten rid of all the things i didn't need etc.
But, got one problem, used the modified realtek 2.48 drivers i found in the guide here and followed the steps to install Creative as well, but now i got the problem that Creative says that the current selected audio device is not supported by the application, then gives me a choice to choose another source, but realtek is the only option so guess i ed something up along the road.
Any tips to what i should try?
Dont be afraid of asking for more info.

I've been 'shopping' for the right laptop for months now, both in-store and online. I was sooooo close to ordering one online, through a boutique shop that will also customize your system, until I found one of the Asus models I've been considering - available through Costco.
I decided to place my order with them as the ram and wireless card are the only 2 things I was going to upgrade anyway, and with this particular model, I'll be able to do it myself, with ease. But what really made me decide to give them a try was due to the fact that not only do you get Asus' full warranty, but Costco gives you 90 days in which to return it, no restocking fee or anything! THAT, is something I couldn't find being offered anywhere. The most I found was a place that gave you 15 days in which to return it.
I decided to go for it and ordered it on Friday. Today when I checked my email, I see that it's already been shipped and the expected date of delivery is tomorrow (Monday). THAT's fast if you ask me.
Anyhow, I thought I'd pass this info out to ya'll, in case the full manufacturer's warranty and 90 day return policy is like gold to you too.
Hopefully the rest of my purchasing experience with them will be positive.

Thinkpad T510 Owners lounge
I ordered T510 last week, shipping date is set for Feb. 9th. I used to have a T43 (given to me by my dad) and it worked great for me. It lasted a total of 7-8 years, and in between I owned couple other laptops - but didn't last while T43 is still okay but is too outdated and on it's last legs. So, after waiting 5 months for to release the T510...I finally went ahead and bought myself one.

Bluesoleil on ASUS G73JH
I have a copy of Bluesoleil and when I installed it on the ASUS G73JH-A1 it just farted and did nothing.
I'm not asking for support for the Bluesoleil program by any means, just curious if any G73JH owner has used it successfully before.

DLNA Server for Samsung TV
Samsung PC Share Manager version 2 is rather slow to say the least and clunky. Has anyone had any luck getting PMS ( ) or another DLNA server working e.g sharing files, not just browsing working ?
PMS is excellent overall with other devices, not just PS3 but nothing else seems to work with Samsungs DLNA tvs...

OEM drivers
I currently own a VPC-EB3QFX notebook and I was wondering that am I suppose to only download drivers from esupport Sony website? Can I use generic drivers like from Intel to download the latest drivers for my video card? I just noticed that there is a more current driver from Intel.com website than the one on Sonys website.
HP 2510p Quick Launch and Screen Flickering Issues

I just received the HP 2510p laptop (seller refurbished) I won from an ebay auction. It's working fine and in excellent physical condition except:
1. Quick Launch buttons are not working. There are no lights on the buttons. I already installed the latest drivers from HP website. There are no missing drivers in device manager. I'm thinking if there is a cable inside the laptop that is not plugged in properly.
2. The screen flickers when booting up to halfway the windows 7 loading screen (I'm assuming until when the display drivers are loaded). This only happens when the power adapter is plugged in. I've tried removing the battery and press the power button for 30 seconds as well as running the laptop on ac power (no battery). It's fine running on battery.
I could return this but I just don't want to go through all the hassle. I already emailed the seller but I don't really expect much from them.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

WIS09ABGN - 2.4Ghz only?
A week ago i purchased UN46C6400 Led TV and WIS09ABGN adapter. It only sees 2.4Ghz networks, no matter how I configure 5Ghz network. I tried all levels of security and all channels, nothing helps. There is a message at the bottom of the TV screen ("Select a network") which says:
"TV will try to connect with selected access point. It may not connect to the AP using WEP/TKIP/TKIP-AES in 802.11n Greenfield(only 802.11n) mode. Now SWL is on, you can search and connect to the 2.4GHz AP Only".
The adapter package clearly says "2.4Ghz/5Ghz". I called Samsung tech support and for about 30 minutes I was transfered from one person to another. They all repeated the same story - "5 Ghz is not supported on any Samsung TV" and tried to convince me that 2.4Ghz is as fast. I stayed persistant and kept repeating that Samsung can't advertise something as 5Ghz and then say it's not supported. I explained many times that I need TV on 5Ghz so that other heavy traffic on my 2.4Ghz network doesn't interfere, and finally story has changed and I was told that my router's 5Ghz signal is not strong enough. Another 10 minutes explaining that 2 laptops and couple other devices have no problem connecting to my new Netgear WNDR37AV pretty far from the device and TV is no more than 3 yards from it, finally I was suggested to ship my WIS09ABGN card for repair.
Of course there is a chance that my WIS09ABGN is really defective, but all that sounds very suspicious. Samsung people on the phone obviously didn't have clue what they were talking about and that TV seamed to recognize the condition and tell right on the screen that it will only connect to 2.4.
I saw many knowledgeable Samsung people in this forum, so I thought I ask here first before saying "good bye" to Internet TV for 2 or 3 weeks of service.

Exceeding manufacturer supported memory per slot
Hi, I have a Dell Inspiron 518 running 32 bit Windows and recently upgraded my ram to the maximum 4 GB. I then went to test it on Crucial.com and noticed that the test results showed that I should not have more than 1 GB per slot installed (I have 4 slots with 2GB's in 2 of them). It actually says:
"Each memory slot can hold DDR2 PC2-5300, DDR2 PC2-6400 with a maximum of 1GB per slot.*
*Not to exceed manufacturer supported memory."
Any advice or experience with this?

RAM from VGN-SZ4XWN/C into VGN-Z17GN?
HI, I have a broken Vaio VGN-SZ4XWN/C with what i understand to be 2Gb of DDR2 RAM.
I have a working VGN-Z17GN with what i understand to be 4GB of DDR3 RAM.
Can I put one into the other?
1. Is it physically and technically possible?
2. Is it do-able by me, never used screwdrivers on my laptops but willing to have a go? (I used to enjoy Lego!)
3. are there any benefits to doing this (faster machine)?
4. what are the risks?
Or would it be better just to go out and buy some new RAM for my VGN-Z17GN and pay someone to put it in?
Is it worth selling my broken Vaio (NB only screen is broken) for this pittance of a low price?

Docking Station Shuts Down Computer
On our network I have a dell lattitude e4300 laptop and when I plug it into it's docking station it shuts down. On the network where I work we have many of the dell e4300 laptops that all work fine. It's done this from day one of owning the laptop. This seems like a power setting or something along those lines. So, I looked in the control pannel and I couldn't find anything that fixed the issue. I can't think of another reason that docking the laptop would force a shutdown.
Any help is greatly appreciated

Unable to connect to a VPN - ISP & Public IP & NAT
I saw this problem different times online but still i haven't a solution.
I use a VPN client Cisco system to connect to an external network (VPN).
I use fastweb as ISP and i have only public IP; i tried to use private IP with fastweb but the problem is the same. With other ISP such as Telecom i don't have this problem.
I'm able to connect but after i can't surf online and this is really bother because online i have some special contents that my company offers.
I use Ipsec UDP Nat/pat; shall i try to use another vpn client? Can someone suggest how to solve this problem?

Question on 720p vs 1080p - native resolution
Clearly 1080p is superior in terms of most graphic intensive programs. However my concern is with native resolution. Most of you know what that is, for example, if you try to play a game at 720p on a monitor that is 1080p, it will look awkward. Why would you want to play a game at a lower resolution than the native one? Obviously because some high end games perform horribly at high resolutions given our laptop specs. So the question is, would it make more sense to get the 720p if I expect to play games that are more playable at lower resolutions (ie. SC2) because I would be able to play it at its native resolution?
Presario C300 Reinstall xp& driver problems

Any help would be much appreciated. I have a Presario C300 and have reformated and reinstalled xp succesfully.
Iam trying now to load the Application and Driver Recovery DVD that came with the machine. The problem iam having is that when i load into drive the DVD wont AUTORUN so i cant load on tp the laptop. I have tried evrything i know to get it to auto load i have checked the settings in the registry and everything is ok, I have run a program calledMicrosoft Autoplay Wizard and its says there is a problem but hasnt told me what it is ( alot of use that was )

Viva la . I hope we will have a better experience and I hope to be satisfied with my unit since I only paid a third for it than what it goes for in retail.
Note that the E4300 has gone through at LEAST one hardware revision with production halted in February/March for a couple of weeks. Anything built after that should be OK. I believe many, many mainboards were exchanged and swapped out by Dell. Here's hoping!

Fujitsu Amilo Pi 1536 broken lcd
Hello everyone, this is my post here.
I've got a amilo pi 1536 with a broken lcd, but the laptop is working (almost fine). The reason why I'm writing, is to ask if it's possible to put the lcd of my asus z53s-f3sv (which has a dead graphic card) on my fujitsu in order to have it working properly?
And another question is, what's suposed to be the name of the c: drive. I'm asking that because I used the hd of the laptop and a back-up drive and change it name, but never delete the windows and documents and settings folder, in order to used again as a boot disk if needed. But I did change the name and now the bios doesn't recognize the boot.

Just received my 8740w (WD941EA), very pleased. However I was amazed at the size and weight of the power supply. It is 19.5cm x 9.5cm x 4cm. Why is it so large. It still seems to charge the same size of battery as in my old HP nx8220 and its power supply is 1/3 size or not smaller. The weight is 1.2kg ! The number's are Rev:A01 0400676401 and on the bar code CT:WBGUC0ALLYW18D. It also has 230w on it. The socket is of the UK kettle kind, ie 3 wide prongs.
1) Why so large?
2) Is it possible to get smaller ones?

When my processor goes pass 1ghz the max is 1.6ghz the fan starts up and gets a very annoying buzzing sound. Now the laptop has 5.5 years but i don't want to retire it yet (because of $) so i need to know if the sound is normal for other laptops of this age/model when they go pass 1ghz, and if taking the laptop apart and cleaning it very well would help and ultimately if i must , buying a new fan. So what is it clean it, buy it a new fan, no solution?.. help please

Is there a bigger version of the dm4?
I'm sure most of you would agree that the dm4 is a beautiful notebook, almost on par with the Envy series' notebooks in terms of aesthetics.
Can I check with everyone here whether there's a bigger version of the dm4 in terms of screen size?

Compaq Presario CQ50-WM
Bought new battery for compaq presairo CQ50-139WM it said to update BIOS to except third party. I did and know pc freezes, it had f 24 version but hp does not go back that far. Can anyone help, my nephew has same laptop anyway to recieve info off his pc

Missing Keystroke Problem - User Request Please

For those users who are still experiencing the missing keystroke problem after the beta BIOS update and have experience in removing and reinstalling their keyboard correctly (as in, you have done this without breaking anything ) would you please send me an email to - (remove the hypens).
I have a request from engineering to try a simple procedure to see if it makes any difference in the operation of the trackpad on these units.
For the users who sent their Synaptics diagnostic logs, thank you so very much. We are going over the results with Synaptics and AMD now.

Studio XPS 8000 Back Panel Connections
First, I should explain that I am as dumb as a box of rocks when it comes to computer nomenclature. I mean, IEEE 1394, eSATA and S/PDIF, VGA yadda, yadda, are Greek to me. Having said that, I've been spending many hours on the Internet trying to match up my DELL Studio XPS 8000 connectors to my LCD TV to hook them together. To make matters worse, it appears my user manual for the PC doesn't totally match the back panel of my tower. I have an IEEE 1394, an eSATA and an S/PDIF on the 8000 and at the very bottom of the panel, I have (reading right to left, the monitor connection, what appears to be a small HDMI connection and finally a 27 pin female connection. These two are not explained either in the manual or on DELL's website. My Vizio LCD has a RGB PC connection for connecting to a PC. Any assistance is appreciated. And, please be gentle.

high memory or high RPM?
I am currently creating my new laptop, first one, and i want to get the best. there are two hard drives i am debating between, one is [640GB 7200RPM Hard Drive] and the other is [1TB 5200RPM Hard Drive] i want a lot of memory (as most as possible, but at the same time i dont want to sacrifice to much of the speed. I am going to be an architect student, so i will be using lots of cad and photos and presentations. if i have to eventually use a seperate external hard drive i could, but im avoiding that at all costs. so can someone please explain to me the differences. i know about the heat and noise, which i would not enjoy to much, but i could easily live with it. i just want a computer that will suit me better. thank you.
photosmart C6380 with scan problems - docproc.msi
I have had some problems with this printer. At the suggestion of the HP phone support person I uninstalled all HP related stuff and downloaded/installed the latest driver software. I have regained control of printer, but scanner has problems.
I have tried scanning from HP solution center, Photoshop and other software. All bring up an HP window that complains about not finding docproc.msi. I have searched my entire hard drive. No docproc.msi

Samsung DLP problems (Shuts down/ white dots)
I have two Samsung DLP tv's, one is a two year old HLS5686WX, the other is a HLS5087WX only a years old. I purchased the second DLP (HLS5087) for my parents because at the time I loved the one I had and thought it would make a great gift, exactly one year after they had it the tv it began to shut down on its own. My DLP (HLS5686) which is exactly two years old (extended warranty is up) has twenty-three white dots on the screen. It started with one dot, two days later two more, within one week we have twenty-three. Now our DLP shut downs on its own. We contacted Samsung and they said it sound like one of the mirrors is going bad and they could only set us up with a local certified Samsung repair shop. Neither Samsung or the repair center will give us a round about price for fixing the problems (I've read it may run us about $800 to the low $1,000's per unit). I have been looking online for people with the same problems and it seems these are very common problems and they start within the same length of time after purchase. I asked Samsung if it could be defect and tech support said although we may have found people online with the same problems, they can not consider it a defect because these people are not calling to complain. I would really like to know if these are defects. Has anyone else experienced these issues?

I do have the European Model of that LCD TV delivered 4 Days ago.
I noticed that compared top my LG LCD TV the RED Tint Color
is way too high setup. I cant change that reducing the (RED) Color slider for example in "Standard Mmode" or the normal color slider.
The RED Color often is extremely shiny for example if i watch a Soccer Game and those players have a red suit on all you see is a extreme bright red colour which is way too high setup ( too much Luma? )
I have the latest December Firmware installed yesterday and it doesn't changes anything.
I also used several highquality Colour calibration Pictures
and even with that Setup correctly contrast / etc .. if i have all red steps seperated many Red coloured scenes are overcoloured especially if its "brighter red" used.
I do missa LUMA / TINT setup for the RED Color in this TV.
I also read on other Reviews that people argue about the too bright red color on this Model.
Is there a way to add that to the next Firmware or that i get access to the RED Tint using a Remote hack?
Its really inacceptable looking and destroys the overall quality of that LCD TV.

Sony HDR XR 500 question
A couple actually. I have a 16 meg card for my XR-500 for my stills. Should I be able to get the GPS information with the stills when using the card? I can not and was wondering if that is normal. We are going to Hawaii for a couple weeks and it would be useful to me if I could.
Another thing. Is there some other program I could purchase for processing the videos and pic's other than the PMB program that came with the camera? I like the face search and the GPS information I get with it but find it lacking in most other departments. The pictures I upload to Youtube are poor quality but if I use other programs it works great.

T61P Video - not the problem you think
I ve been aware of t61p video problems for a long time.
I knew the history of my card until I had a board replacement under warranty a year ago.
I havent had the dreaded failure yet.
Tonight I was looking at the new graphics adapter and I noticed there's been a change! I have an Nvidia GTS 250 in my "new" T61P board and I was curious.

So I have it narrowed down...

I really like the jacket (#1) because of the removable carry strap, only concern is my #1 goal here is heavy protection.
The backpack I am getting is made for larger notebooks, plus it will be a carry on for flying, books and whatnot, so there may be a decent amount of weight pushing on the delicate Z.
Which is why I like the Brenthaven (#4) being hardshell [edit: looks like this one will not open vertical].
Though the basic glove has such good reviews, I think I will e-mail STM and ask if the jacket has the same protection.
Biggest fear with the brenthaven is that it will not fit .
Want something that will never even leave my backpack (though the option with the jacket having the strap is nice), with the ability to open it vertically (on top) so that I do not have to remove it to slide the laptop out.
firewire problems need help big time
im new here and not that techy anyway, i have a packard bell easynote tj71 and have some underwater wreck footage from a dv camcorder and it has to be trasnferred via a firewire cable but there is no ilink port/firewire on the laptop, mailed packard bell twice and no reply, my question is can i add firewire to this laptop and if so how is it done would need to know in laymens terms lol any help would so much be appreciated cheers
Configuring 4.0 speakers on M570TU
It seems that only the green jack on the front panel is willing to output sound.
If I plug a speaker into either the Blue or Pink connector, then select "front", "mid" or "back speakers" in the autoconfigure panel, I get an error message saying "This device type is not supported!" This doesnt happen with the green jack.
Also if I leave the cable in after I got the error message, the Realtek window looks like this:
I have no idea what those red arrows mean.
I've never seen it before.

CF-28 case modification
I really want to upgrade my CF-28 MkI with the 1GHz board, and from what people have told me, it cant be done.
Is there anyway I can modify my MkI case to be able to install the 1 GHz board? I really like my 28 and don't want to lose it.

Asus g72Gx heelp with undervolt.
First I read the basic undervolt guide, and I seem to be having an issue with ORTHOS.
It only seems to stress 2 of the 4 cores in my q9000 and I don't see a way to change that.
the reason I was interested in undervolting is because I always seem to be burning up the nvidia gtx 260m chips in these laptops.
I have had asus replace 2 already once a g71 they upgraded me to the g72, and now they just replaced my g72 as well, with another.
They have only lasted 3 months each! I used the hwmonitor and saw may gpu was a scorching 97c! Since my laptop is running 24-7....
I guess that really kills it.
I am also looking for a guru to asist me I want this done right and possibly undervolt the gpu.
Dell 1525 fell go boom
So my 1325 went for a ride...long story short it ended up on the floor about a 4 foot fall.
Only damage is to the d/c power port.
The port itself is not loose.
There are what looks like cooper pins inside the port that are bent.
The power cord now falls out, does not sit in place.
Even more odd is the port still works in that I have power however the battery will not charge.
Get that 65 watt error issue on reboot.
What should I do?
I have tried to straighten out the pins but to be honest i have never seen pins in a dc port, just the one pin in the power cord to port...
almost like mystery pins.
Have considered super gluing power cable in place but wondering if there is another answer?
Bare in mind I am a Paramedic Firefighter / BJJ Fighter so I am super dumb when it comes to computers.

RAID1 Enclosure
I am looking for a RAID1 (mirrored) enclosure I can use as a backup box.
I am a graphic designer and photographer, and my current desktop and laptops both use RAID0 for speed (which is freaking me out).
I have everything backed up on an external LaCie drive, but I don't trust it as far as I could throw it.
If I lose these files I've basically lost everything (I backup really important things on DVD however, that ends up being very costly even at a buck a piece).
So basically I am looking for an external RAID1 case that runs off of eSata or USB 3.0, just to be sure that in an emergency worst-case scenario there's a good chance I still have it all.
The case should support two 7200 RPM drives, up to 2 TB of data at least.
I hope to get something stylish, preferably a black polished metal with LED lighting, as it will be a desk piece in my office and not shoved away in some server room.
Does anyone have any recommendations? Or as to how I should back up in general?
I would like to keep it under $100 (without the drives) but would be willing to increase if needed.

It has happened to me twice and not that often admittedly.
Windows/keybord was responsive just the mouse wouldn't move at all and had to reboot.

i7 720QM processor temps
Hi,
whilst gaming my i7 720qm temps go upto 80C degrees.
Is this normal? I'm sometimes gaming for a few hours at a time so I'm a little worried that a temperature like that is going to affect the longevity of the laptop.
also the laptop is only a few months old, and i keep it on a cooler so not to block any vents.

T410s - Quick questions
1.
Are the volume up and down buttons known to be a pain to use? Do most new owners complain about them?
I ask because when compared to the T400, theyre extremely annoying to use.
You MUST hard press or else the volume meter stutters.
And when hard pressing you cant move up in small increments since youre forced to hold the buttons.
Small complaint but annoying nontheless.

The fan.
Is it often that you find yourself hear it go? I know its a thin profile computer and everything is compact, but is it like this with all of them or just this one?
No graphic or cpu intensive work is being done and yet its spinning enough for it to be noticeable.
I ask this as I'd like to know whether these issues are common or if there's a problem with this unit.
These two things are my big annoyances when compared to the T400 so I'd like to get everyones opinion.

The Perfect Laptop
Guys,
I have been searching for an ideal laptop for the last 4 months extensively, since my business is slow, I get a lot of time free to do my research at office.
I usually do the following three things on my laptop:
1.
browse web extensively (youtube, google, etc.
etc.)
2.
do(sending/receiving) a lot of emails
3.
Lot of word processing (.doc., excel)
4.
watching movies (occasionally) and listening to music during my free time (usually on flight, about twice a month)
5.
Also my computer is ON about 15 hours a day, so I want something which is durable and has STAMINA (not necessarily POWER) and does not heat up in an instant (like my current DELL XPS M1330 after more than 2 years of usage)
So I need an ideal laptop which was good to do the above things without any hiccups, at the same time I do not want a beast with super power processor loads of RAM etc.
etc.....
I have shortlisted the qualities I want in my laptop which would be ideal for a person with my type of usage, and they are:
1.
A decent processor (not too power consuming and demanding, and not something very weak like ATOM, in which if I open 30 web pages (including tabs on firefox,) the thing gets stuck up !! something like Intel ULV or the core2 Duo in MBA is ideal as it has a TDP of 10 only !! which sounds good.
2.
A decent amount of RAM for my multi tab browsing and listening to music at same time.
(about 2GB would be enough, I guess)
3.
A Windows OS (7 or XP, but NO VISTA) or a MAC OS SNOW LEOPARD
4.
backlit keyboard, so I use is easily in nite or low light conditions
5.
Matte (Anti-Glare) screen (I totally hate the GLOSSY screen) this is very important for me as I travel a lot in car, and the GLOSSY is very unreadable in bright sunlight shines through the window of my car.
6.
I would LOVE if the aspect ratio is 4:3 of screen rather than 16:10 or 16:9 like all manufacturers are doing since last few years !! (As I use my laptop for surfing web pages and doc files more than watching movies)
7.
A SSD drive rather than a HDD, so it can take the bumps while I am traveling and also speed up things like MS WORD and FIREFOX and boot up times etc.
(A minimum of 64 GB of SSD would be sufficient and fine with me)
8.
It should be ultra-portable and light weight with a screen size of around 12 inch (between 11 and 13 prefrably)
9.
I don't need a DVD drive.
10.
It should have an AWESOME battery life (more than 4 hours of practical usage)
This would be an ideal laptop for people like me, who need it for basic stuff and need to carry it with themselves whole day.
But its unfortunate, whenever I go to store, I see all 14 inch and 15 inch beasts with fugly GLOSSY screens !!
I hope some manufacture comes out and makes something as close to above, so people like me can finally enjoy all the advantages in one pack.
After extensive research, I have shortlisted following three models, which come close (but do not meet) my expectations:
1.
mac book air 11 inch (base model) - 1000 USD
2.
LENOVO THINKPAD X201 - 1050 USD (after upgrading from HDD to SSD and using an extended 9 cell battery) after using 20% OFF coupon
3.
PANASONIC TOUGHBOOK W8 (i found a nice deal on it, which I think will not last for more than a week, its being sold for 1199 USD, SUGGESTED PRICE: 2499 USD)
Can you guys suggest which one should I go for ?
IF you guys have any other laptop in mind, which will be suitable for me, please let me know.

Sony US Customer Service (technical support)
My blu ray drive stopped working today.
Won't eject and won't show up in Device Manager.
I called Sony Support and the rep was helpful, remote accessed my machine, but could not fix the problem.
I'm now being sent a replacement ODD to swap out.
My experience was smooth and pain free.
Just wanted to share this to show that not all Sony customer service interactions are awful.
My last call in about errors on my OEM HDD went very smooth as well.

Has anyone found any inexpensive solution to those of us who want a matte screen on this model?
I know waiting for a cheap 2740p is probably my only solution but thought I'd still ask.

Outside
The outside of the front compartment of the Alienware Orion Backpack is covered by a soft plastic material.
It has the same feel as the plastic used on the Razer Mamba mouse.
The shield as I call it, is very smooth and an absolute particle magnet.
Literally every small loose scrap of paper will attach itself to it.
I’m constantly brushing crumbs and such off of it.
Dent’s are also created easily, but come out just as easy so it’s nothing to worry about.
The nine zippers that adorn the backpack are all the same size, weight, and material.
A very lightweight soda-tab sized zipper is crested with the Alien Head logo.
No flex whatsoever and have yet to be scratched.
The bottom has two feet for grip when placed upright.
On the left hand side, when looking at the logo side, the water bottle pouch is tucked away (took me a week to find it ).
The weight distribution of this backpack is just amazing, though looking at the straps you would not think that.
The shoulder straps are made of thin lightweight foam material.
They are wider than the average the strap and that may well have something to do with its orthopedic feel.
The back pads are where the real comfort lies.
One inch thick pillows support your back along your oblique’s and Latissimus dorsi, and lower back region.
Holding twenty pounds of weight in the backpack in one hand, feels like nothing when put on your back.
The phone compartment is removable.
It can hold an EnV2 and Blackberry Storm snuggly.
Two packs of Orbit gum as well
My only gripe is with the handle on top.
It is much longer than most handles and flops around.
It hits the back of my neck whenever I lean forward and is like someone slapping my neck.
First Compartment
So the outside compartment is the most lavish pocket I have seen in a while.
On one side, there are ten CD pockets and a key ring.
Not many people carry around CD’s anymore, let alone barenaked CD’s like that, so I’ll just put in some one hundred dollar bills as placeholders
Opposite this side, your laptop accessories are held; a writing utensil pouch, a padded zippered chamber for holding MP3 players at the top, a zippered mesh pouch at the bottom, and a very protective mouse case in the center.
The pouch fits my Mamba perfectly, with just enough space for the cable.
However the Mamba dock does not fit to my liking here, so I hold it in the main compartment.
Middle Compartment
The second compartment is very simple.
The side closer to the shield has a space wide enough for two Asus EEpc notebooks, or five college-ruled notepads.
On the otherside of the compartment, there is a mesh pocket wide and tall enough to hold two magazines without bulging.
Main Compartment
The main compartment of the back is quite large; the size of the entire backpack, it has a single mesh/plastic filmed pocket with the text:”Checkpoint Friendly”.
That’s just for frequent flyers whose bags are opened often.
The sides of this pouch are fleece covered.
As a comparison for how large it actually is:
That's five one hundred page notebooks, three novels, a graphing calculator, a thirteen hundred page SAT book, a fork(i forgot to take it out), a seventy page thick passbook, a deck of cards, and some cash.

I'm 6'2", so the backpack is surprisingly compact.
